The Mansion on Sunny Road
Part 1: Jade’s Beginning
“TO THE WINDOW!” Screamed AJ at seven in the morning…. “TO THE WALL! TO THE WALL! TO THE WALL RIGHT NEXT TO THE… MALL!” I covered my ears and put my pillow over my head, trying to block out his voice. AJ always does this in the morning, screaming songs randomly with the WRONG lyrics, I don’t know why I let him sleep over my house… then again, he is my cousin, and I love him with all my heart.
“DOWN RIGHT NEXT TO THE MALL!” He screamed louder… you would think three rooms down this would be not as loud, but you thought wrong…. I groggily walked towards the mirror to see my hair was a mess…. A girl’s worse nightmare is having her hair a mess…. Or maybe that is just me?
“AJ, be quiet, everyone’s trying to sleep!” I yelled, grabbing my hair brush to at least fix the “hairricane” that was wrecking havoc on my head. AJ quieted down and after fixing some of my hair I grabbed my clothes, and went into the shower…. Yeah this is going to take a while….
* * * * *
“Hey Jade, can we take Ruppers for a walk?” Asked AJ while he slurped down his Fruit Loops like a Neanderthal. I rolled my eyes as I finished eating my pancakes and started gulping down my glass of milk. My sister, Kaitlyn, sat there fixing her beautiful long brown hair. Ruppers, our black Labrador retriever, came into the kitchen as soon as he heard “walk”…. Just like AJ to get things stirred up….
After breakfast we decided to take Ruppers for a walk… Until Kaitlyn had to watch her “show” that was so important she made us wait an HOUR before all three of us could walk Ruppers. I was thinking of just leaving her here and letting AJ and I take Ruppers for a walk….
Mom and Dad walked in, gave us kisses, and left for work. That is right, left for work, I am eighteen, AJ is eighteen and Kaitlyn is sixteen…. We can take care of ourselves now. Why are AJ and I not out of the house? It is October 28th, we want to savor the last moments we have of being free until we are stuck in the never ending “job” category for the rest of our lives… Oh well, maybe we will get lucky and actually win the lottery… Yeah, that will never happen….
After they left we all finally took Ruppers for a walk. The day was beautiful, like one of those movies where you know something bad is going to happen, that kind of beautiful. No one was outside; everyone was inside for some reason. I smelled grass; I hate that smell with all my heart. We walked towards a street we usually don’t walk down when I happened to notice the road us three were entering…. “Sunny Rd.” I will never forget that….
“Yo wassup! Screamed Marcus with his incorrect grammar as always… Don’t get me wrong, Marcus is a wonderful friend and very protective, for one he is six foot-five, second he has a short Mohawk and his eyes are stunningly scary. I can always count on him for everything and anything.
Marcus came walking towards us wearing a white spaghetti strap undershirt and black sweat pants. His African muscles glistened in the sun’s rays. I looked at what we wore. I wore a pink and black striped tank top with a black shirt over it and short shorts. Kaitlyn wore a black and purple shirt with blue skinny jeans. Lastly, AJ wore an undershirt to try to show off his “muscles” and red, baggy, shorts.
We all started small talk, as you can see, we love to talk…. Especially AJ, I never seen anyone talk as much as he does…. GRRR he drives me crazy sometimes, but like I said, I love him….. All four of us headed down the Sunny Road when we noticed a mansion….. Not just any mansion, a mansion like you see in horror movies, windows cracked, silence, dark, paint peeling off the wood, the wood itself is molding and rotting, the creepiest house I have seen in my whole life… That is when it hit me….
Part 2: AJ’s Beginning
Fear… Controls us…. Restrains us from the world…. Hello good people, and let me just say, I am quite the person. I have two personalities, the happy, free, loving AJ everyone sees me as, and the dark side… the side that not even Jade or Kaitlyn or Marcus or Bill or anyone has seen…. I hide it inside of me, the deepest secrets in my heart…. Crying to be let out, that happened October 31st…. It started the day we saw That Mansion… That Mansion…. That Mansion on Sunny Road….
As we all gazed open the rotting mansion in awe, Jade began to smile, Kaitlyn looked with wide eyes like a lemur, and Marcus said nothing. I stood there, thinking of what the he-…. “Heck” is so important about That Mansion that everyone is staring at it. The day was beautiful, I smelled fresh cut grass and a barbeque from across the street, I love those smells, the perfect combination to satisfy and cuddle with my nose.
Just then, Bill and Ghost came walking towards all of us, Ruppers barked. Bill is a short five foot seven with short brown hair and blue eyes. He is the fastest typer you have ever seen for his age. He can easily type over two hundred words per minute, at his LEAST. He is clean faced, no mustache or beard or anything, maybe even just a five ‘o clock shadow, that’s all. He is talented in the arts of Kickboxing and Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, he is a purple belt in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, to be more detailed. Bill has an eye problem, he blinks too much for the average person, I don’t understand how he sees….
Ghost looks like a ghost. That is why we call him GHOST. He is the palest eighteen years old you have ever seen, so pale that I swear he is a zombie or something. He has medium ranged black hair and glasses. As always he wears a skull on his shirt, and baggy shorts. Out of all of us, he is the “smart one” in the group. We all have our labels. Bill, Ghost, Jade, Marcus, Kaitlyn, Rick, Gee-gee and I all have our nicknames. Bill is the one who blinks a lot, Ghost is the smart one, Jade is the logical one, Marcus is the athlete, Kaitlyn is the shy one, Rick is the quiet one, Gee-gee is the outgoing one and I am the… “Funny one”, I know, makes me laugh too….. And yes, I know you haven’t met Rick or Gee-gee yet, but you will, trust me….
“We should all have a small party here!” Exclaimed my sister, with the WORST idea I’ve ever heard of… That started a discussion, as always, I said something smart-aleck and made them laugh. Everyone seemed to like that idea of having a small party in that house, especially since Halloween is coming up in a few days and those stupid horror movies aren’t enough to satisfy our thirst for Horror, so why not try an old, creepy, decaying, possibly haunted mansion. Right? No… I don’t SEE why she said that, for she just caused a chain of events that scared the cra-…. “Socks” off all eight of us… excluding Ruppers…
Well, that is all that was really important that happened on October 28th…. Remember what I said… Fear… Controls us…. Restrains us from the world…. That means something… What does it mean? You will surely find out, as you enter with us, The Mansion on Sunny Road….
